Try your hand – well, hands – at playing the ukulele on Thursday, July 31 at the San Marcos Public Library. The beginners course is from 5 to 6 p.m., and the all-levels course is from 6 to 7 p.m. The class is free, but donations are appreciated.
Boone Graham is offering an amazing opportunity to learn to play the ukulele and improve your skills by playing with others in a fun and friendly environment. A small number of ukeleles will be available during class time. If you have your own, please bring it.
The sessions on July 31 will allow Boone to get a feel for participants’ skill levels and interests, provide resources for further ukulele practice and playing and discuss future group lesson opportunities through LifeLong Learning.
Beginners and The Ukulele- Curious: 5 to 6 p.m.
• Basic introduction to ukulele playing • How to “read” songs and chord charts
• Playing songs with a group All Levels Welcome: 6 to 7 p.m.
• A small selection of pop and folk song charts is presented
• Overview of song taught to the group
• Play the song
• Repeat until 7 p.m.
Boone Graham is a performing songwriter with a passion for the ukulele. He has over 12 years of ukulele teaching experience. He has worked with The Whole Life Learning Center, Groundwork Music Project, programs in the Austin Recreation Centers and teaching in-home private lessons. With his student-based approach, Boone meets learners of all skill levels where they are and helps link ambitions with the practical, foundational next steps.
