Altered Book Art + Zentangle | Monday, July 28, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Create an altered book or work on Zentangles in this combo class! A Zentangle is a miniature abstract work of art created by a collection of patterns. It is typically done on a 3.5” X 3.5 “paper” tile using a pencil and a black pen. The small size allows for a work of art that can be completed in a relatively short period of time. Instructor: Lana Daniel. Alter a book and transform it into your creation-- photo album, recipe book, journal—whatever you imagine! Instructor: Tanya Turley. All materials provided.

AUGUST 

Women’s Hall of Fame Nominations Parks and Recreation is looking for outstanding local women to honor during the annual induction ceremony in October. A committee of former recipients will review the nominations and select the honorees.

Criteria for selection include: volunteerism in multiple areas of service; meeting the needs of the community; demonstration of community initiative; and influencing positive change and going beyond the call of duty. Paper nomination forms will also be available at the Parks and Recreation Office. Nominations close Aug. 15 at 4pm.

Dance for Adults with Disabilities | Aug. 22, 7 - 9 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: Western theme. Adults with disabilities, you are invited to join us at our themed dance parties with DJ music, door prizes, and fun.

These events are held six times a year at the San Marcos Activity Center from 7-9pm.

Concession items such as soda, candy, cookies and chips are $1 each. Participants that require assistance must be accompanied by an assistant.
