The San Marcos Mural Arts Program is seeking community input for the design of a new mosaic mural located at the Mobility Hub, located downtown at 214 East Hutchinson Street. Artist J Muzacz is the co-founder of The Mosaic Workshop based in Austin and has been commissioned to design and lead the creation of the mural.

The city hosted an in-person open house where members of the community, including Mayor Jane Hughson, brainstormed with the artist about what designs would enhance the visual identity of the town. Topics of river conservation and indigenous history were discussed.

ā€œI’m very excited to hear from residents and learn more about the area so that I may best design something for the space that encourages unity between people and nature,ā€ Muzacz said.

The community will be invited to participate in mosaic mural workdays where they can help build the mosaic in an air conditioned space as it will later be transported to the site to be attached. The artist is seeking community input through an online survey open the next few weeks. One can give their insight online at themosaicworkshop. org/connect/ blog/san-marcoscommunity- mural.
