CITY OF SAN MARCOS
Earlier this week, a structural engineer conducted an inspection of the Mill Race bridge structure on Cape Road between River Road and Flores Boulevard. The bridge was closed last week after city crews observed a crack and signs of deterioration of the concrete deck.
The inspection found a six foot section on the eastern side of the bridge in poor condition and recommended that the affected portion of the bridge remain closed. The western side of the bridge did not have any defects that would significantly reduce its capacity and
