Jaxon Canady, a 10year-old track and field athlete from San Marcos has officially qualified for the 2025 AAU Junior Olympics after a standout performance in the 1500meter race at the regional qualifiers, where he set a new personal record.
Canady’s achievement marks a major milestone in his young athletic career, making this his third year to qualify on this competitive level. Known for his endurance, focus and competitive spirit, he has quickly become one of the most promising youth runners in Central Texas. His recent performance at the regional meet not only secured his place at the national level but also inspired his coaches, teammates and community.
“Jaxon’s work ethic and determination are truly exceptional,” his coaches said. “He approaches every practice with purpose and brings a level of maturity to the track that’s rare for his age.”
The 1500-meter race is one of the most demanding middle-distance events, requiring a balance of speed, strategy and stamina. Canady has embraced the challenge, training rigorously while balancing school and family life.
Outside of athletics, Canady enjoys basketball, football and spending time with friends and family. His family describe him as humble, curious, and driven — qualities that shine both on and off the track.
Canady will represent his region at the AAU Junior Olympics in Houston in late July, where he will compete against the nation’s top youth athletes. His journey is a testament to the power of dedication, community support and the dreams of young athletes everywhere.
