City hiring new Director of HR for Civil Service

CITY OF SAN MARCOS

The city of San Marcos has selected Lindsey Cox to serve as the city’s next Director of Human Resources/Civil Service, following a competitive nationwide search. Cox will lead all aspects of the city’s human resources functions, including employee recruitment and retention, Civil Service, benefits, risk management, employee training and development and organizational culture initiatives that support the city’s ongoing mission to remain an employer of choice and to provide high quality, communityfocused services.

Cox has more than a decade of forward-thinking human resources leadership experience, representing both municipalities and private companies. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Director of Human Resources for the city of New Braunfels, where she was instrumental in developing employee-centric programs and streamlining processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery across departments.

“Lindsey’s experience demonstrates her steadfast commitment to fostering an inclusive, innovative and people-focused workplace,” said Assistant City Manager Rodney Gonzales. “This is an important hire for our organization. She will be a tremendous asset to our team and will help us develop new programs and processes to enhance our organizational culture and meet our goals of attracting and retaining the most qualified staff to serve our community.”

Prior to joining the city of New Braunfels, Cox served as the Human Resources Manager for the city of Schertz and Human Resources Director for Schlitterbahn.

Throughout her career, she’s led initiatives to enhance organizational cultures, maintain competitive and equitable compensation systems and modern operations and policies.

“I have a passion for public service and supporting communities with strategic and forwardthinking approaches to challenges and opportunities,” said Cox. “I’m incredibly excited to join the city of San Marcos and contribute to its collaborative culture to serve the growing community.”

Cox earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from Texas State University and certifications from the Society for Human Resource Management and International Project Management Association. She will assume her new role with the city of San Marcos on Aug. 11.
