Prayers for the Texas Hill Country

Prayers for our Friends in the Texas Hill Country as they heal and recover from the July 4 flooding. I had the opportunity to spend some time with the Sisterdale Volunteer Fire Department last week, and the recovery operations never stop. From sorting and packing supplies, to feeding volunteers, to scheduling and accounting for those professional recovery personnel and volunteers – the volunteers at the fire station just kept going! Thank you to all of the volunteers who have stepped up to assist in the Texas Hill Country.

GUADALUPE COUNTY – WOMEN OF INFLUENCE CONFERENCE

The Women of Influence Conference will be held July 31, and this year the line up of speakers is awesome. The event will be emceed by Melissa Vega from News 4/Fox San Antonio with speakers such as Jen Hardy and April Ryan who have a unique motivational message. There will also be a panel of local professionals that will share some of their secrets to success. The selection for the Guadalupe County Women of Influence for 2025 is Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen. Mayor Dodgen was selected for a multitude of reasons – but most importantly for her advocacy on many local and regional boards and committees that make the region a much better place to live, work and play. Tickets can still be purchased at SeguinChamber.co, at the chamber office, located at 116 North Camp Street, or you can call us at 830379-6382 through Tuesday, July 29.

LEADERSHIP SEGUIN APPLICATIONS

Applications for the 2025-2026 Leadership Seguin class will be available on the chamber website on Aug. 4! The class does fill quickly, so early registration is encouraged. The Leadership Seguin course provides participants with an in-depth look at how the city and county work, a tour of several of the manufacturing facilities within the city/county, and the opportunity to accomplish a service project within the community. The Course begins Sept. 12 with course orientation and an introduction to community leadership. So, get those applications in. For more information, contact the Chamber at 830379-6382 for the application or go to the chamber website at SeguinChamber.com. All Leadership Seguin potential applications close on Aug. 22.

CRAFT BEER AND WINE FEST

The chamber is sponsoring a Craft Beer and Wine Fest on Aug. 23 in the Nolte Bank Building, located at 101 East Nolte in Seguin. This is a reschedule of the same event that was scheduled for July 5, but given the circumstances that occurred on July 4 and subsequent rains that occurred in the city, the event was postponed. Those ticket holders for the July 5 event have had their registration moved forward to the Aug. 23 event. Moving forward, the event will be listed on the chamber website for tickets and the tickets are limited. The VIP tickets will again have a planned special area where they can enjoy some special treats that will be revealed as soon as catering is confirmed. For more information on the Seguin Craft Beer and Wine Fest you can check the event out on the Chamber Website at SeguinChamber.com/eve nts or call the Chamber at 830-379-6382 for assistance.

ANNUAL STATE OF ThE CITY CHAMBER LUNCHEON

The Sept. 3 Chamber Luncheon will be the annual State of The City. The State of the City updates are provided by our Mayor Donna Dodgen and Seguin City Manager Steve Parker where they share the latest initiatives, goals and other local information about our city – and maybe even share some of the new businesses that will be calling Seguin home sometime in the future. Chamber staff is again working on an attendee pamphlet that will detail information from several sources from around the city and county to provide the attendees with a snapshot of how Seguin is growing. The Seguin Events Center has been selected for this event, so there are ample seats for lunch and still space for networking; but don’t wait too long since there will be no tickets available at the door and the ticket purchase deadline is Aug. 27. Don’t miss this luncheon! The luncheon is open to chamber members as well as chamber future members, and ticket and sponsorship information is available at the chamber office or on the chamber website under the events tab.
