There are a few upcoming events that may impact traffic in San Marcos:
•Beginning Aug. 4 Crews from the Public Works Department will be testing school zone lights to ensure they are working correctly before the new school year begins. Testing will occur in the morning and afternoon on Monday, Aug. 4. The school zone speed limit will not be enforced during the test period. Crews will also restripe faded crosswalks and replace any worn signage. The city of San Marcos is asking drivers to please slow down and give crew members plenty of space as they work.
•Aug. 9 - On Saturday, Aug. 9, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. drivers on northbound and southbound IH-35 should use exit 200 (Centerpoint Road) to access the Outlet Malls. Exit 201 (McCarty Lane) on northbound IH-35 will be closed. For more information, visit sanmarcostx. gov/324/Road-Closures.
•Aug. 16 - Residents will see the impact from Texas State move-in starting Sat. August 16. There will be an increase in traffic along north and southbound I35 Frontage Road, Aquarena Springs Drive, Thorpe Lane and Robbie Lane.
