THIRTY YEARS A SAN MARTIAN

This week marks a special anniversary for me as I commemorate 30 years since I moved to San Marcos — my forever hometown. Like many before me and since, I came to school here, to what was then Southwest Texas State University, and I fell so in love with this town that I stayed. To celebrate, I believe it is essential to enjoy some of my favorite San Marcos pastimes, including a plunge into the river at Sewell Park, pizza from Valentino’s, a visit to Wonder World to say hello to the peacocks, a pleasant walk on the Sink Creek boardwalk and a stop at Sundance Lagoon. San Marcos has changed a lot in the last three decades, but the heart of it remains the same. It’s a sweet and slightly weird place to call home, and I’m daily glad that I do.
