“Kimberly Akimbo” will kick off the autumn portion of the Texas Performing Arts 25-26 Broadway in Austin season Sept. 30 - Oct. 5 at Bass Concert Hall. The celebrated new musical originally opened on Broadway Nov. 10, 2022, and now it’s making its way into the hearts of fans all across the country.
The show centers around Kimberly, a 16-year-old newbie to suburban New Jersey, who must navigate family dysfunction, a rare genetic condition, her first crush — and possibly a felony? — all while trying to find her bearings in a brand new home town. Determined to remain optimistic, Kimberly embarks on an unforgettable adventure of her own.
After its debut on Broadway, Kimberly Akimbo went on to win five 2023 Tony Awards including Best Musical, becoming the most critically- acclaimed production of its season. The musical will run Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m.; Friday at 8 p.m.; Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $35.
