Preservation Texas is now accepting nominations for its 2025 Honor Awards. These biennial awards celebrate outstanding individuals in the preservation field, as well as exemplary historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, reconstruction and infill projects from across the state. This year’s awards will be presented at a ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 30, in San Antonio.
“Our Honor Awards spotlight the people and projects that inspire preservation efforts across Texas,” said Samantha Hunick, Programs Coordinator at Preservation Texas. “We encourage communities, organizations and individuals to share their success stories and nominate those who are making a difference.”
Preservation Texas Honor Awards are presented in two primary categories: Individual Awards and Preservation Project Awards.
Individual Awards recognize people who have demonstrated excellence in preservation advocacy, heritage education, heritage trades, preservation media or public service. Nominations in these categories are reviewed by Preservation Texas’ Preservation Programs Committee, with one award given per category (with the exception of Preservation Media).
Preservation Project Awards honor recent historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation or reconstruction projects in Texas as well as thoughtfully designed infill projects within historic settings. Eligible projects must have been completed within the last three years and demonstrate compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards. A jury of preservation professionals and architects from across the state will select awardwinning projects. There is no limit to the number of Preservation Project Awards that may be presented.
The 2025 Honor Award nomination deadline is Friday, Sept. 12. The nomination fee for Individual Awards is $50 for Preservation Texas members or $75 for nonmembers, and the fee for Preservation Project Award nominations is $75 for members or $125 for non-members. Selfnominations are welcome.
