LOCAL BUSINESSES
The Davenport recently finished its remodel. After it was no longer necessary to serve foods based on its Conditional Use Permit, which was changed from an Alcohol CUP that requires food to the Bar CUP that does not, owner Duane Bradley removed the kitchen and added a new lounge space in addition to the patio, which he added at the beginning of the year.
“This remodel reflects that change and the end result [ended up] being a much more comfortable, inviting cocktail lounge atmosphere that tracks with our original concept of the original Davenport that we opened 25 years ago, which is mid-century lounge, space-age bachelor pad-type operation,” Bradley said. “It did open up the space, giving us some clear sight lines and allowing the windows to be more visible from all locations in the bar, so it has a much more open feel [and is] less claustrophobic.”

Just because The Davenport isn’t cooking up the food themselves doesn’t mean one can’t eat while you’re there.
“In the meantime, we’ve also made some partnerships with several restaurants in the area, namely Industry and Gus’ Fried Chicken,” Bradley said. “They have table tents with menus on them where our customers can use their phone with a QR code and order food from either one of those establishments, and they’ll deliver it to the bar. And that’s turned out to be a very successful partnership that allows us to not only not have a kitchen but still offer food and snacks to our customers.”
Bradley plans to have an event to celebrate the new digs with a date to-be-determined where there will be vendors and entertainment of some type.
