TXST faculty honored with TSUS Regents’ Awards

TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY

The Texas State University System Foundation Board of Directors has named three Texas State University faculty members recipients of the 2025 TSUS Regents’ Awards.

The annual Regents’ Awards recognize outstanding faculty, staff and students from the seven TSUS member institutions. The honorees were announced at the TSUS Board of Regents meeting in Alpine on Aug. 8.

Oleg Komogortsev, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Computer Science, and Susan Morey, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Mathematics, received the Regents’ Professor Award. Mark Paz, M.A., an assistant professor of instruction in the Department of Communication Studies, received the Regents’ Teacher Award.

The Regents’ Professor designation honors outstanding members of the system’s professoriate who have achieved excellence in teaching, research, publication and community service, while demonstrating an unwavering dedication to their students and university. Komogortsev and Morey are the 27th and 28th TSUS Regents’ Professors to be honored at Texas State.

The Regents’ Teacher Award recognizes exceptional teachers based on their outstanding performance as educators, contributions to the development of courses and use of innovative teaching methods, among other criteria. Winners maintain the title of “Regents’ Teacher” for the duration of their service within TSUS. Paz is the 16th recipient from Texas State.

Regents’ Professor award winners will be formally recognized at the November 2025 Board of Regents meeting in Huntsville. Regents’ Teacher award winners will be honored at the February 2026 Board of Regents meeting in Beaumont.
