Bobcats continue offensive hot streak in road win against UIW

The Bobcats hot offensive start continued last Sunday as Texas State defeated the Incarnate Word Cardinals 5-0 in the ‘Cats first road win of the season.

Texas State improves their overall record to 2-0 while UIW falls to 1-1.

The Bobcats struck first when freshman Katrin Agustsdottir scored in the 2nd minute following an assist from sophomore Helen Alormenua and freshman Alexis Montgomery, putting Texas State up 1-0.

Texas State later scored in the 12th minute when junior Victoria Meza found the back of the net for her first goal of the season off the assist from graduate senior Kennley Bradley, going up 2-0.

Freshman Sadie Guzman scored her second goal of the season, scoring in the 19th minute to extend Texas State’s lead to 3-0.

Junior Kaylie Smith tacked on the final goal of the first half, scoring in the 28th minute for her first goal of the season and giving Texas State a 4-0 lead going into halftime.

Senior Chloe James added the final goal for the Bobcats, scoring in the 66th minute to make the final score 5-0.

Texas State outshot UIW 15-5 with 10 of the Bobcats’ shots being on goal. Through the first two games of the regular season, the Bobcats have outscored their opponents 14-1, giving Texas State a goal differential of +13.

The Bobcats will face their first major test of the season this week when Texas State goes on the road to College Station to battle the Texas A&M Aggies. Texas A&M enters the game with a 1-0-1 overall record with a win over Lamar last Sunday and a tie against Baylor on Thursday.

This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the Bobcats and the Aggies, their first game since 2021, with Texas A&M leading the series 4-0.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Ellis Field in College Station.
