Celebrate the beginning of football season with San Marcos businesses and civic groups at the “Business Showcase: Tailgate Edition!” on Thursday, Aug. 28 at the San Marcos Conference Center. The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce’s 39th annual Business Showcase, presented by Texas Disposal Systems, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Admission is open to the public and tickets are $5, or free with a five-dollar- equivalent donation of non-perishable food items for the Hays County Food Bank.

The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual Business Showcase: Tailgate Edition at Embassy Suites last year. More than 100 businesses gathered to show off their items, talents and wares to the public while cheering on the Bobcats and the Rattlers. Two pep rallies during the event will feature Texas State University student athletes, Strutters, cheerleaders and TXST mascot Boko, as well as cheer and dance students from San Marcos High School. Guests can take photos and will also have the opportunity to get autographs.
Around one hundred exhibitors will set up at the Business Showcase. Organizers have encouraged them to set up tables with a tailgate-party theme and to dress in their favorite team colors.
“You’ll see the people behind the organizations that make this community run,” said Chamber President Page Michel said. “And you’ll get to feel the energy and pride during the pep rallies!”
Business Showcase sponsors include Texas Disposal Systems, La Cima, CHRISTUS Health, Cavender Nissan of San Marcos, Texas State University, San Marcos CISD, Chuck Nash Auto Group, Brown Distributing Company, the San Marcos Daily Record and McCoy’s Building Supply.
Event sponsors and exhibitors will be offering door prizes and giveaways.
