The Austin-born wing joint is celebrating 30 years of independent ownership this year.
Launched in 1995 by University of Texas students, Pluckers began as a dorm-room dream to deliver late-night wings. Three decades later, that dream has grown into 33 locations across Texas with eight in Austin and a location in San Marcos, which opened in 2009. The company plans to double its footprint in the state over the next four years.
“Back when we started, we just wanted to serve great wings and create a place where people could hang out and have fun,” Cofounder Sean Greenberg said. “30 years later, being independently owned has allowed us to grow on our own terms by staying true to our values, investing in our people and building a community we’re incredibly proud of.”
Beyond delivering great value to guests, Pluckers builds a workplace culture that keeps team members engaged and growing. In 2025, the Austin Business Journal named Pluckers one of the Best Places to Work for the fourth time—the only restaurant to make the list.
Pluckers has also earned national recognition, landing spots on ESPN’s “Top 5 Sports Bars” and USA Today’s “Top 10 Wing Restaurants” in the U.S. It’s a perennial winner of Best Wings awards in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, and was named one of the 8 Most Iconic Brands in Texas.
Continuing to invest in the communities it serves, Pluckers supports more than 15 local sports teams across Austin, Houston, San Antonio, College Station and Dallas and regularly contributes through charity events, donations and local partnerships.
The San Marcos location is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to midnight. Located at 105 Purple Heart Trl I-35. Visit pluckers.com to view their menu and to learn more about their 30 years in Texas.
