It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas — and the Wimberley Players are ringing it in with a Jones Hope Wooten holiday comedy that the whole family can enjoy.
The Players will be holding auditions for “Christmas Belles,” directed by Melinda Ellisor, Wednesday, Sept. 3 from 6 to 10 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 5 from 6 to 10 p.m., by appointment only at 450 Old Kyle Road. Video auditions will be accepted through midnight on Friday, Sept. 5. Interested auditioners who cannot make the scheduled in-person dates may contact the producer at belles@wimberleyplayers. org to make alternate arrangements.
Callbacks, if needed, will be held Monday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
“Christmas Belles” tells the tale of a church Christmas program that spirals hilariously out of control in a very Southern farce about squabbling sisters, family secrets, a surly Santa, a vengeful sheep and a reluctant Elvis impersonator.
Auditioners are asked to prepare a 1-2 minute comedic monologue or tell a personal anecdote of their choosing to entertain the director. Roles are available for six adult women of all ages and three adult men.
Rehearsals are slated to begin Monday, Sept. 15, with 12 weekend performances running from Nov. 14 through Dec. 7. All actors will be offered a stipend.
