Tailgate season is upon us and the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce kicked off the occasion with their annual Business Showcase at the San Marcos Conference Center. Over 120 local businesses showcased their products and services to the San Marcos public. The event included raffles, giveaways, free food and pep rallies from the TXST Bobcats and the San Marcos High School Rattlers. Instead of admission, guests could donate non-perishable goods to the Hays County Food Bank. The event was able to raise 415 pounds of food and $1,100 in cash donations for the food bank.
“It was absolutely considered a success by everyone I’ve spoken to,” Chamber President and CEO Page Michel said. “All of the businesses had awesome swag, and really cool ways to introduce their business to these new customers.”
Their event was scaled up this year with more exhibitors attracting around 645 guests.
“People like to do business with people they know, they like to shake hands and look someone in the eyes. Even if they don’t need a chiropractor today or their air conditioning fixed, they will remember meeting those folks and it leads to meaningful connections,” Michel said.
