With the Rattlers set to hit the field last Friday for the season opener, GEAR UP had fans ready for the first football game with a pre-game tailgate.
The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs is a competitive grant program of the U.S. Department of Education that increases the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education by providing community-education partnerships to offer support services to highpoverty middle schools and high schools.
GEAR UP, which was began working with San Marcos CISD in 2017, provides critical early college awareness and support activities to improve access to higher education for low income, minority and disadvantaged first generation students and their families.
The GEAR UP tailgate provided fans with food and live music along with several booths promoting their services.
