Wake the Dead Coffee House has been a community hub for almost two decades now and this weekend is a good example of why. Every month the cafe showcases three local artists. Shameless plug but your girl is one of the artists this month in the stage room! The show is called Mix Tape and features doodles inspired by some of my favorite musicians. There is an interactive element called the Public Playlist where you can draw your own favorite album or leave a song lyric. I’ll be out of town this weekend but Saturday is the perfect day to stop by and see the artwork since there will be multiple art receptions! Daniel Urias will be in person from 12-3 p.m. in the study room, he goes by Bullymon Art and creates amazing horror pop art. Painter Amelie Esquivel will host her reception in the main room from 6-8 p.m. Her whimsical work is soft and nostalgic. End your evening with laughs from the Evan Lopez & Friends Comedy Show in the stage room. There will be two shows, one at 6 and then 8.
