HISPANIC HERITAGE WALK

The San Marcos community is invited to join the 4th Annual Hispanic Heritage Exhibition Walk on Saturday Sept. 13 at 10:00 a.m. for a vibrant celebration honoring the rich cultural traditions, stories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.

This year’s exhibition walk will feature cultural displays, local history exhibits, music, art and interactive activities that showcase the diversity and legacy of Hispanic heritage. Families, students, and community members are encouraged to participate and experience the event’s blend of education, celebration and unity.

“The Hispanic Heritage Exhibition Walk is more than an event, it’s a living tribute to the generations who have shaped our community and continue to enrich its future,” according to Lucy Gonzalez, founder of the event. “We are excited to bring people together to learn, celebrate, and be inspired.”

The walk starts at Centro Cultural de San Marcos located at 211 Lee St.

The Hispanic Heritage Exhibition Walk was founded in 2021 by Gonzalez, a local leader and long-time advocate for cultural and community engagement. What began as a grassroots initiative to honor Hispanic Heritage Month and highlight the cultural richness within San Marcos has since grown into an annual tradition that draws hundreds of participants from across Central Texas.

Now in its fourth year, the Hispanic Heritage Exhibition Walk continues to thrive. The program is now under the stewardship of Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos and the League of United Latin American Citizens Council 654, ensuring its ongoing impact and growth in the years to come.

In addition to celebrating culture, the Hispanic Heritage Exhibition Walk also invests in the future. Proceeds from the event provide scholarships to local students, supporting their educational goals and empowering the next generation of leaders in San Marcos.

This event is made possible through the collaboration of 30 community organizations who have joined together to support and celebrate Hispanic heritage, including PromiseLand Church, the City of San Marcos, Dr. Daniel Rojo Memoriam, Mano Amiga SMTX and the Methodist Health Care Ministries.
