The Rattlers competed at their home meet for the Runnin’ Rattler Invitational with many of the San Marcos’ runners finishing in the Top 30.
On the boys side, sophomore Moses Garcia was the highest placing runner for the Rattlers, taking third place with a time of 17:02.50. Finishing in 13th place was junior Marcus Friedman, completing the race with a time of 18:21.25.
Junior Griffin Julian finished in 22nd place with a time of 19:02.66 while sophomore Anthony Calletano finished in 27th place with a time of 19:40.29.
Rounding out the top five was sophomore Anthony Anderson who placed in 43rd place with a time of 21.44.49.
As a team, Rattlers finished in third place with 78 points behind Mission and San Antonio Reagan.
For the girls, senior Aaralyn Julian took home fifth place with a time of 20.15.99 while sophomore Destiny Garcia placed 20th with a time of 22.12.81.
The Rattlers will compete at the Hays CISD Invitational this Friday.
Bobcats volleyball wrap up play at Southwest Showdown
Texas State concluded play at the Southwest Showdown, defeating Texas A&M Corpus Christi before falling to UTEP in the final game.
Against the Islanders, the Bobcats won 3-0 [2518, 25-19, 25-23]. Senior Jade Defraeye led the team in kills with 13 followed by senior Britton Finley with 12. Sophomore Anna Blaine led the team in assists with 37, while seniors Maggie Walsh and Alyssa Clark led the team in digs with nine apiece.
Texas State closed out the Southwest Showdown against UTEP, losing to the Miners 3-1 [25-16, 20-25, 25-23, 25-13] Junior Samantha Wunsch led the team in kills with 11 while Blaine led the team in assists with 33. Walsh led the team in digs with 11.
Texas State will play their first home game of the season against the No. 7 ranked Arizona State Sun Devils Thursday night.
Rattler volleyball falls
to Hays
San Marcos fell on the road to the archrival Hays Hawks 3-0 [25-20, 2515, 25-15].
The Rattlers enter district play with a 5-6 overall record. San Marcos opens up district at home against the Buda Johnson Jaguars. The Jaguars enter the game with a 24-6 overall record.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
