WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND?
The San Marcos Daily Record staff gives recommendations on what to do in our community
HERITAGE WALK & PUNK TACTICS
The Hispanic Heritage Walk on Saturday is a great chance to see colorful traditional costumes and enjoy a range of activities showcasing the diversity of Hispanic music, art and food. The walk starts at Centro Cultural de San Marcos, located at 211 Lee St., and ends at the Hays County Courthouse. You are welcome to join in the parade or to just celebrate the sights and sounds of the Latino legacy of the San Marcos area. Proceeds from the event will go towards scholarships for local students.
Punk rock fashion changed the way the world viewed ripped shirts, blue hair and safety pins. But not just any rip will do. Broke Thespians are hosting the Punk Tactics workshop to guide you through the world of punk fashion. Bring your pre-loved clothes to the San Marcos library on Sunday at 2 p.m., and you find out how to tear, dye, stitch and patch them into a DIY fashion statement.
