The San Marcos Fire Department Honor Guard raises the flag every year that flew over City Hall on Sept. 11, 2001 as part of the city’s ceremonies honoring the lives lost. Following the flag raising, the poem “Tolling of the Bell” was read followed by the ringing of the historical fire bell and moment of silent reflection. Once the ceremony wraps up, the public was invited to participate by placing flowers on the 9/11 flower memorial.
