60+ Monthly Bingo When: Sept. 17, 2 - 3 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: Will you be the next one to shout “BINGO?” You’ll never know unless you join us for our monthly Bingo program at the San Marcos Activity Center.

Each month, we provide Bingo with great prizes and light refreshments.

Participants are allowed to play 3 bingo cards each game. Registration is not required. You do not need to be a member of the Activity Center to attend. Come join the fun B-4, during, and after!

Fight the Fall

When: Sept. 17, noon to 1 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center Who: Fyzical Therapy & Balance What: Welcome to Fyzical Therapy & Balance’s Fight the Fall, balance and fall prevention class. Balance is in their name, and they specialize in it. At FYZICAL, fall prevention is one of the cornerstones of their mission.

Info: Each class meeting will focus on static and dynamic balance, home safety, balance strategies, and education. Instructors will assess each person’s level of confidence and instruct in strengthening and strategies that are specific for balance and general stability. Participants need to wear loose, comfortable clothing with rubbersoled shoes.

60+ Step by Step Painting

When: Sept. 18, 10 a.m.

Where: Dunbar Recreation Center Who: Sponsored by Brookdale San Marcos North What: We would like to invite you to join us for Stepby- Step Painting, Sponsored by Brookdale San Marcos North. Participants will be led by an art instructor who will take them step by step through the creation of their painting. All participants will be painting the same subject.

Info: This is a free event, and all supplies will be provided by Brookdale San Marcos North and San Marcos Parks and Recreation.

Utility Assistance Sign-Up When: Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Who: Calling all Hays, Caldwell, and Blanco County Residents! Don’t be left in the dark! Sign up in person and let us help you pay your utility bills for the rest of 2025! Eligibility is based on income. Applications may take 6-8 weeks to process.

60+ Trivia Time

When: Sept. 24, 1 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: We are looking for trivia buffs ages 60 and above to join us for 60+ Trivia Time, a pub style trivia game at the San Marcos Activity Center! This monthly event will include participants answering multiple choice questions on a variety of topics through Trivia Nerd, a web based, trivia hosting platform. A mobile device, such as a smart phone, a tablet, or laptop computer, is required to play 60+Trivia Time. The questions and possible answers will be projected onto a screen and will also be displayed on the player’s device. Each participant will use their device to select their answers. Trivia Nerd will keep track of individual scores. Points are awarded for correct answers, and additional points are awarded to players that answer the questions the fastest. The topics for each round are chosen by the host.

Info: You will not have to download anything to your device. Play on any smart phone, tablet, or laptop, via a web browser.

Sewing 101

When: Thursday, Sept. 25, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Learn the parts of the sewing machine and make a beginner project.

60+ SMASH Sack Lunch Social and Bingo When: Sept. 25. Lunch Social will begin at 12:30 p.m. and Bingo will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: For each SMASH Sack Lunch Social and Bingo meeting, participants will need to bring their own sack lunch to eat while socializing with friends before we play Bingo. Water and tea will be provided as well as bingo prizes.

Lullaby Hour When: Thursday, Sept. 25, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Come cozy up for a musical medley with dreamy themes that will ease you into sleep! Begins with optional vocal warm-up and sing-along before shifting into restful receiving and ends with meditation and open relaxation time. Bring your own blanket to lie comfortably on the floor. Facilitators: Molly Abel and musician, Molly Hayes. For all ages. Parents must accompany children.

Altered Book Art + Zentangle

When: Monday, Sept. 29, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Create an altered book or work on Zentangles in this combo class! A Zentangle is a miniature abstract work of art created by a collection of patterns. It is typically done on a 3.5” X 3.5 “paper” tile using a pencil and a black pen. The small size allows for a work of art that can be completed in a relatively short period of time.
