CENTRO PHOTO EXHIBIT AND CURSED MOVIE NIGHT

Meet renowned documentary photographer Alan Pogue and check out the terrific black and white documentary photos of his “America’s Migrant Farmworkers” exhibition at a 2 p.m reception on Sunday at the Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos. He has been a staff photographer for The Texas Observer since 1971, and currently runs the Texas Center for Documentary Photography in Austin. His photos primarily focus on social justice causes, and he has a terrific eye for lighting and composition.

Wake the Dead coffee house kicks off Halloween early (is it ever very far from their thoughts?) with a showing of “The Craft” at 7 p.m. on Sunday. This campy classic features four teen witches encountering typical teen witch problems. Two of the witches became stars, Neve Campbell with the “Party of Five” tv drama and the “Scream” movie franchise, and Fairuza Balk, who became sort of famous for being Fairuza Balk. For a truly strange movie experience, check of Balk’s movie debut in “Back to Oz,” recently labeled by the BBC as “one of the darkest children’s films ever made.”
