Reflection, remembrance and resilience will be the themes of the Aquarena Wind Ensemble concert on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church.
Formally known as the Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band, the group of volunteer musicians will perform a program entitled HILL COUNTRY STRONG to show community support for those affected by the flooding tragedy of July 4, as well as those who helped in recovery efforts.
The events and aftermath of that day have touched the lives of many people across Hays County. The citizens of Texas, the United States and even other counties, responded with resources and resolve to reach out to those in desperate need.
The free presentation through music and text, will offer encouragement and hope for all dealing with every aspect of that day. Invited to attend are the untold numbers of first responders, rescuers, law enforcement, medical, fire, government, active and retired military, chaplains, church and community groups, students and families, donors, strangers and friends and neighbors, far and near.
The performance will take place in the newly refurbished sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Located at 325 W. McCarty Lane, the building sustained significant damage from the hail storm of May 9, 2024.
