Local artist and sustainable fashion designer Corinne Loperfido will host a 3-day interactive art show featuring her current body of work titled “What Does The Earth Need Us To Do?” at Eye of the Dog Art Center located at 405 Valley View West Rd.
The show opens Friday Sept. 26 with an event from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. On Sat. and Sun. from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. guests can sign up for the upcycling and mending sewing workshop, open to all skills and all ages. Participants can bring their mending piles to learn how to fix them. Attendees can bring their unwanted fashions to trade or fix in exchange for different garments. The clothing swap is free. The workshop has a sliding scale cost from $150 to $250.
Loperfido upcycles garments by deconstructing and reworking them into one-of-a-kind textile art and wearable works of art. Her work pays homage to her mother, Cathy, who is an award-winning quilt and rug maker as well as her grandmother, Phyllis, who made her own clothes.
Corinne Loperfido is a San Marcos-based multidisciplinary artist whose work focuses on taking care of what we already have by mending and upcycling local materials.
