60+ Trivia Time
When: Sept. 24, 1:00 p.m.
Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: We are looking for trivia buffs ages 60 and above to join us for 60+ Trivia Time, a pub style trivia game at the San Marcos Activity Center! This monthly event will include participants answering multiple choice questions on a variety of topics through Trivia Nerd, a web based, trivia hosting platform. A mobile device, such as a smart phone, a tablet, or laptop computer, is required to play 60+Trivia Time. The questions and possible answers will be projected onto a screen and will also be displayed on the player’s device. Each participant will use their device to select their answers. Trivia Nerd will keep track of individual points. Points are awarded for correct answers, and additional points are awarded to players that answer the questions the fastest. The topics for each round are chosen by the host.

Sewing 101

Where: San Marcos Public Library What: Learn the parts of the sewing machine and make a beginner project.

60+ SMASH Sack Lunch Social and Bingo When: Sept. 25. Lunch Social will begin at 12:30 p.m. and Bingo will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: For each SMASH Sack Lunch Social and Bingo meeting, participants will need to bring their own sack lunch to eat while socializing with friends before we play Bingo. Water and tea will be provided as well as bingo prizes.

Lullaby Hour
When: Thursday, Sept. 25, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Where: San Marcos Public Library What: Come cozy up for a musical medley with dreamy themes that will ease you into sleep! Begins with optional vocal warm-up and sing-along before shifting into restful receiving and ends with meditation and open relaxation time. Bring your own blanket to lie comfortably on the floor. Facilitators: Molly Abel and musician Molly Hayes. For all ages. Parents must accompany children.

Altered Book Art + Zentangle
When: Monday, Sept. 29, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Where: San Marcos Public Library What: Create an altered book or work on Zentangles in this combo class! A Zentangle is a miniature abstract work of art created by a collection of patterns. It is typically done on a 3.5” X 3.5 “paper” tile using a pencil and a black pen. The small size allows for a work of art that can be completed in a relatively short period of time.

When: Tuesday, Sept. 30, 10:00 a.m.
Where: San Marcos Activity Center Who: Sponsored by PAM Health What: Ready for a funfilled morning? Join us for Domino Bingo. Participants will be seated 4 to a table and will draw 7 dominoes each. The caller will pick a domino from their set and announce it.
If one of your dominoes is called, you place it in the center of your table. The first person to have all their dominoes in the center of the table wins. Come test your luck and enjoy some friendly competition—you might just walk away with a prize.

Donuts and Dinos with Dad When: Saturday, Oct. 4, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Where: Dunbar Recreation Center What: Children and their dads or father-figures are invited out to a fun-filled day featuring dinosaur themed games, crafts, music and more. Donuts and other light bites will be served.

Together in TEAL Ovarian Cancer Run/Walk
When: Saturday, Oct. 11, 8:00 a.m.
Where: City Park What: This event raises critical awareness of the deadliest of all gynecologic diseases. Together in TEAL for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition is a one-day event with the mission to save lives through the prevention and cure of ovarian cancer and to improve the quality of life for survivors and their caregivers. This event is attended by ovarian cancer survivors, their caregivers and loved ones, medical professionals, and the general public.

Fall Plant Sale and Monarch Fest
When: Saturday, October 11, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Where: San Marcos Discovery Center What: Did you know Central Texas is in the heart of a flyway for many migrating species of birds and insects including the monarch butterfly? That means we are lucky enough to witness a diversity of migrating species when the time is right. Join us and see what San Marcos is doing as a city to help pollinators and learn how you can get involved and make a difference. Local partners will be on site to show visitors the importance of monarch butterflies and other pollinators that can be found in our region. Peruse our Fall Native Plant Sale items and be inspired to build your own butterfly garden and lend a helping hand to pollinators while enjoying native flowers.
Enjoy a monarch obstacle course, monarch lifecycle games, photo ops, tagging games (and demonstrations if there are monarchs flying through), and information on how to participate in the Texas Pollinator Bioblitz. Fun for the whole family!

Dance for Adults with Disabilities When: Friday, Oct. 17, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Where: San Marcos Activity Center Who: Ages 18+ What: The city of San Marcos hosts Dances for Adults with Disabilities every other month with DJ music, door prizes, and lots of fun! Come dressed in your favourite costume.
