What Would Vincent Do? premieres this October at MotherShip Studios. Presented by the artist collective American Communal Industries the event is inspired by the groundbreaking style of immersive theater and the haunting story of Vincent van Gogh. For a three night run the event will run Sat. Oct. 4, Fri. Oct. 10 and Sat. Oct. 11 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Funded in part by the city of San Marcos Arts Commission, this original production combines dance, sound and visual art to bring audiences inside the painter’s fractured psyche. Set in an intimate, walk-through environment, the show dissolves the boundary between audience and performer, inviting guests to wander through a dreamlike world shaped by Van Gogh’s obsessions, passions, and struggles.
Performances will offer a rare opportunity to experience an avant-garde theatrical event in San Marcos. With limited capacity and high demand, tickets are expected to sell quickly.
What Would Vincent Do? positions San Marcos at the forefront of Texas’ arts scene, drawing visitors and locals alike into a spellbinding encounter with history, creativity and the ghostly echoes of one of art’s most legendary figures.
