San Marcos is for the gamers. The 78666 is rich with trivia and bingo nights almost every night of the week. Pluckers Wing Bar is no stranger to balancing a meal and thrill, with a long history of game nights open to families and friends of all ages, guests can get a side of wing sauce and a side of winning wherever they dine.

Pluckers takes game nights so seriously that they employ a Minister of Fun to create and facilitate the gaming experience. In August the restaurant launched a new Thursday game night called Over/Under. The game is set up like trivia with an employee asking a question but instead of the whole crowd, one guest gets to give their guess. The question is then open up to the rest of the players to guess if the real answer is over or under what the original guess was, allowing skill and luck to intertwine.

“Guests love how easy Over/Under is. You’ve got a 50/50 shot at every question, so everyone feels like they can win. Plus, there’s a winner every round,” Pluckers Minister of Fun Dale White said. “Over/Under is proof that you don’t have to be a trivia genius to win. Sometimes being a lucky guesser is all it takes!”

Game nights have been a part of the Pluckers experience since the beginning.

“We launched trivia about 20 years ago to liven up slower nights. Fast-forward to today and it’s an award-winning tradition that’s become part of our culture,” White said.

“Along the way, we’ve tried all kinds of fun stuff. Wingo (or spin on bingo), Pluck Hunt (a table-top scavenger hunt), and plenty more. Why? Because at Pluckers, it’s not just about good food and drinks, it’s about giving our guests a reason to keep coming back, week after week.”

Over/Under launched mid August and has already become a Thursday night staple for wing lovers.

“At Pluckers, we like to be uniquely us, so we wanted to create something we could truly call our own. During one of our marketing meetings, we asked ourselves: what if our guests didn’t just play trivia, but actually ran it? And that’s how Over/Under was born,” White said.

“It’s a fun, new spin on our weekly trivia night. One team guesses the answer to a question, and everybody else decides if the real answer is higher or lower. It’s that simple, and it makes for some pretty hilarious moments when your buddy is way, way off. We tested it, tweaked it, and it’ll soon roll out across our restaurants after a successful launch in Austin.”

Over/Under runs every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the San Marcos location located at 105 Purple Heart Trl.

“At the end of the day, Pluckers game nights are about more than prizes, though those are pretty great, too. They’re about creating memories with your friends and family, high-fiving strangers, and forgetting about real life for a couple of hours,” White said.
