Bobbie Garza-Hernandez shares information with the Rotary Club on Oct. 1 about the upcoming Sacred Springs Powwow this weekend at the Meadows Center.
Organized by the nonprofit Indigenous Cultures Institute, Sacred Springs is a celebration of culture featuring art, music, dance and food from across Native America.
A San Marcos native with deep Indigenous and Mexican American heritage, Hernandez is the founder of Pink PR, a firm dedicated to giving voice to minority communities, advocating for fair business practices and ensuring that historically marginalized groups have a seat at the table.
Hernandez was born into a family with seven generations of history in San Marcos, and her upbringing was shaped by her parents’ commitment to civil rights and community activism. She is a graduate of St. Edward’s University in Austin.
The Rotary Club of San Marcos is a 104-year-old nonprofit, nonpolitical and nonreligious service organization.
