Texas State climbs 16 spots in U.S. News and World Report rankings

TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY

Texas State University jumped 16 spots on U.S. News and World Report’s Best National Universities ranking for 2026, tying for No. 257 in the overall rankings.

In addition to the overall list, Texas State achieved rankings in several sub-categories: No. 145 (tie) among Top Public Schools; No. 144 (tie) for Top Performers in Social Mobility; No. 294 (tie) in Undergraduate Nursing; Made the 194-211 ranking range for Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs; No. 240 (tie) in Economics; Schools in the National Universities category offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and Ph.D. programs. U.S. News and World Report surveyed nearly 1,700 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality to compile the list.
