Texas State won their second straight game, beating the Troy Trojans 3-1 [19-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-23] in a hard-fought win.
The Bobcats improved their overall record to 7-7 and 2-1 in conference play.
After dropping the first set 25-19, the Bobcats found themselves trailing 4-0 in the second set. But a 6-1 run by Texas State put the Bobcats in front 6-5. Despite the Trojans getting to within one point from taking the lead back during several points of the game, Texas State closed the door on a Troy comeback to win the second set 25-23.
The Trojans rallied in the third set before going up 14-10 on the Bobcats for their largest lead of the set.
Once again, Texas State rallied, trailing 20-17 before going on a 5-1 run to lead the Trojans 22-21. The Bobcats pushed Troy to set point at 24-22 but a 3-0 run by the Trojans put Troy at set point 25-24.
Unfazed by the run, Texas State closed out the third set on a 3-0 capped off by a serving ace from Isabella Andrews to win Set 3 27-25.
In the fourth set, Texas State jumped out to a 9-4 lead over the Trojans before pushing the lead out to 15-10.
After going up 16-12, Troy rallied for a 7-1 run to lead the Bobcats 19-17 in the hopes of forcing a fifth set.
The Trojans push the lead to 20-18 but the Bobcats answered back with a 4-0 run with the help of two blocks from Texas State to go up 2220.
Troy answered with a short 3-0 run as the Trojans now led 23-22 on the verge of winning the fourth set.
However, Texas State got the last laugh. The Bobcats went on a 3-0 run of their own following a service error, a kill from Samantha Wunsch and a serving ace from Anna Blaine as Texas State went on to win the fourth set 25-23 to win the match 31.
Wunsch led the team in kills with 14 while Blaine led the team in assists with 41. Maggie Walsh led the team in digs with nine while Jade Defraeye led the team in blocks with 10.
The Bobcats will look to complete the two-game sweep against the Trojans on Friday before press time. Texas State will return home this weekend for Homecoming against South Alabama.
