Gary Job Corps Career Preparation Period Supervisor Linda Kindred (left) is retiring from GJC after 46 years of service. During her career, Kindred worked in the cafeteria, academics, residential, center standards, transportation, student store and career prep. Three correctional trade students are graduating this week and have been placed in full-time employment at correctional facilities throughout Texas. Kristian Brown will be going to the TDCJ Wallace unit, Aliyah Alvarez will be going to the MTC Prison in Kyle and Michael Lewis to the TDCJ Allred unit. Lewis was recently recognized by the Hays County Commissioners Court proclamation dedicating Jan. 15, 2019 as “Gary Corrections Cadet Michael Lewis Day” due to his heroic response in providing lifesaving first aid to a stabbing victim at Sights & Sounds of Christmas.
