LETTER TO THE EDITOR
To the Editor:
Up until Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025 I considered myself a good, if not model, citizen of the U.S.A. I pay my taxes honestly, and on time and try to stay informed and vote. I write the occasional letter to my elected representatives and the local newspaper. I support candidates who share my views on what is best for the most people. I am politically independent in that I belong to no political party, although I admit to siding with the liberal side of most issues, placing me in a left-ofmiddle position in the left/right political spectrum in line with the vast majority of Americans.
I suspect that it is this position which is responsible for me and most of my friends, family and acquaintances being called out by our president as being “THE ENEMY WITHIN.” The mobilization of armed citizen soldiers to “get control” of us seems inconsistent with the very idea of democracy. Up until Wednesday, as far as I know, I was the enemy of no one. It may take awhile for me to adjust to my new role as “THE ENEMY”.
