On Wednesday, Oct. 15, the League of Women Voters of Hays County will hold a city council candidate meetand- greet for San Marcos City Council, Places 1 and 2. The event will be held at the Dunbar Recreation Center at 800 W. MLK in San Marcos, from 5:30 p.m to 7 a.m.
This is an opportunity for the candidates to introduce themselves to the voters and converse with those present. In Place 1, incumbent Matthew Mendoza is running against Chase Norris. In Place 2, incumbent Saul Gonzales is running against Barbara Montana-Escobar, Brandon Oles, Joshua Paselk and Christopher L. Polanco.
In addition to city council elections, the November 2025 ballot will have 17 Texas constitutional amendments and 11 San Marcos charter revisions.
Candidate and constitutional amendment information will be available on VOTE411.org by October 10, 2025. Print version voter guides will be in limited availability.
As part of the LWV of Hays County mission to empower voters, candidate events are a valuable resource for voters to fully inform themselves before voting. The U.S. Census reports that Hays County added more than 83,000 new residents in 2020, many of whom are eligible voters.
