Coffee, oil changes and Big Macs will soon be available on Wonder World Drive. New developments are underway on the west side of San Marcos. What was once an empty lot between Frost Bank and Care-Now Urgent Care will be the fourth McDonalds location in San Marcos, located at 185 Wonder World Drive. Two of the current McDonalds are now open 24 hours, located at 1105 S I-35 S. Frontage Road and 1001 TX-123. The third location is open 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. across from the outlet mall at 4060 S. I35 S. Frontage Rd. The Record reached out to McDonalds for more information but has not received a response. Construction is underway.

Two new businesses are slated for the empty lot on Wonder World Drive and Stagecoach Trail. Take 5 Oil Change applied for a sign in April and is set to build at 298 Wonder World Drive. This will be the third Take 5 Oil Change in San Marcos with one located on Thorpe Lane and the other at 1000 TX-80. The company specializes in rapid oil changes, allowing customers to stay in their car during the service.

Adjacent to Take 5 will be Black Rock Coffee Bar. The company was founded in 2008 in Beaverton, Ore. with over a hundred locations now across the country. This will be the first San Marcos location, with the closest being in the Kyle Crossing Shopping Center in Kyle. The coffee shop will offer drivethru, online ordering and in-store dining. The shop will be a part of the Shops at Wonder World center which is to be built at 294 Wonder World Dive. The developers are SHOP Companies, which is a multifaceted real estate firm with an office out of Austin. According to SHOP Companies employee Dylan Kelly there is 3,250 square feet of lease space remaining next to Black Rock Coffee. They are working with several groups but nothing is signed yet.
