A late goal by Coastal Carolina saw Texas State match on Monday that was originally scheduled for Sunday to end in a 11 draw at Conway High School.

“We played well for most of the match but Coastal is a very good team and have yet to lose at home. I thought we had the game under control and we definitely played well enough to win,” said head coach Steve Holeman. “Coming away with a draw is not the result we were looking for and now we have to get back and refocus for the next one.”

With the result, the Bobcats are now 7-2-5 overall and 4-0-3 in the Sun Belt Conference while The Chanticleers are 3-4-6 on the season and 0-1-6 in league play. TXST is now in a threeway tie atop the conference standings with Old Dominion and ULM with three matches to play.

Both team ended up taking 11 shots on the afternoon with Texas State holding a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. Attempting four shots apiece was Constance Agyemang, Helen Alormenu, Mady Soumare and Matsuri Tsutsui.

In goal, Brooklyn Escobar made two saves with both coming in the final 20 minutes of action.

Soumare had the first shot on frame exactly nine minutes into the contest. It came off a rebound on an attempt by Alormenu that was initially blocked.

Midway through the 35th minute, Agyemang netted her fifth goal of the match to put the Bobcats ahead 1-0. It was a right-footed shot off a pass from Soumare.

In a minute time frame, both Angela Gatto and Tsutsui put shots on target. Gatto’s was first midway through the 57th minute with both of the attempts aimed at the upper portion of the goal.

Jenny Ngankem attempted a long-distance free kick that saw the CCU goalkeeper make a save as the ball was aimed for the upper right corner.

Halfway through the 83rd minute, a Bobcat followed a Chanticleer player in the box. Tamlyn Parkes converted the penalty kick to tie the contest.

Alormenu had the last opportunity to try and get the three points for Texas State. Her shot coming off a throw in was blocked in the dying seconds.

Next up for the Bobcats is a home match on Saturday against Southern Miss. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
