The physicians and staff at Resolute Baptist Hospital in New Braunfels are reminding women that early detection is vital when it comes to preventing the devastating effects of breast cancer. That’s why the staff is working later into the evenings this October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to make it easier for all women and especially busy moms and working women to stop in for a mammogram screening.
Appointments can be made any time during the week and Resolute Baptist Hospital is offering extended hours on Mondays during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Extended hours are from 8 a.m. to 6:40 p.m. every Monday through October. Regular hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Resolute Baptist Hospital imaging center is located at 555 Creekside Crossing, New Braunfels.

Roben Caufield, director of Resolute Baptist Hospital’s imaging program, said that women shouldn’t allow their busy schedules and lives to prevent them from taking care of their health or delay screening.
“Delaying screening can be more detrimental in the long run because breast cancer can be present with no symptoms long before it’s detected. That’s why early detection can save lives,” Caufield said.
Because 1 in 8 U.S. women will have a breast cancer diagnosis at some point in life, it is especially important to make time for a mammogram. The American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American College of Radiology recommend women who have no personal or family history or genetic predisposition for breast cancer begin annual mammogram screening at age 40. For women who have a higher than average risk for breast cancer, such as the presence of certain genes (BRCA1 or BRCA2) in their DNA, should consult with their physician regarding the frequency for screenings that may begin for them as early as age 25 or 30.
At Resolute Baptist Hospital, patients have access to resources including 3D digital screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, on-site radiologists and ultrasoundguided breast biopsies.
“At Resolute, we’ll be here late into the evening so women can get the peace of mind they need about their breast health,” Caufield said. “We want to remind women this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and all year round, that mammograms are safe, effective and can save lives.”
