District Governor to talk at Rotary Club

Edward “Craig” Hardy will visit the Rotary Club of San Marcos on Oct. 22. He is the Rotary Governor for District 5840, which includes 57 clubs in South Central Texas. During his visit he is expected to speak about Rotary’s current district and international priorities and its achievements over the past year. Rotary meets on Wednesdays at noon at the VFW Hall, 1701 Hunter Rd. in San Marcos.

Hardy is the past president of the San Antonio North Central Rotary Club. He has also served that club as treasurer and as a member of its board of directors and scholarship committee. He was awarded the President of the Year for District 5840 after his year as president.

With over 30 years of Rotary experience, Craig has chaired the district’s Rotary Leadership Institute Committee from 2019-2021 and frequently serves as a facilitator. He has also served as an assistant governor, and on the District Conference Organization Committee. In addition, he has trained club treasurers throughout the district.

Hardy is a graduate of Baylor University in Waco, and Trinity University in San Antonio. He has a master’s degree in healthcare administration and is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He recently retired from his career as a healthcare consultant.

He and his wife Carole have four children and eight grandchildren.

Rotary International District 5840 covers an area of 52,466 square miles encompassing 44 counties. There are 2,300 Rotarians in the district, which stretches from Del Rio in the south to Beeville in the east and Junction in the west. San Marcos is among the most northern clubs. San Antonio was the first Rotary club in the region, having been chartered in 1912, together with clubs in Houston and Dallas. San Marcos Rotary was chartered in 1921.
