San Marcos resident wins $2 million in Mega Millions lottery

San Marcos resident wins $2 million in Mega Millions lottery

A San Marcos resident has won a Mega Millions lottery prize worth more than two million dollars. The lucky winner, who purchased the ticket at the U-Pak-M located at 11940 Manchaca Road in Austin, has decided to remain anonymous.

The prize, worth $2,000,028, matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn (12-22-49-57-58), but not the Mega Ball number (19). The randomly selected built-in Multiplier number was 2, which increased the prize from $1 million to $2 million. It was the first second-tier Mega Millions prize won in Texas since the game was refreshed in April. The claimant had an additional win of $28 on the same ticket.

Mega Millions drawings are conducted on Tuesdays and Fridays in Atlanta, Ga and are broadcast at 10:12 p.m. CT at texaslottery.com. In Texas, ticket sales for Mega Millions drawings close at 9:45 p.m. CT on draw nights.

The game is played by choosing five numbers from a field of 70 and one Mega Ball number from the second field of 24 numbers. To win the Mega Millions jackpot, players must match all six numbers drawn including the Mega Ball. Players matching fewer numbers may not win the jackpot, but could still walk away winners.
