For the third consecutive week, Texas State held the lead with 1:30 in the game only to give up either the game-leading or tying touchdown.

The Bobcats held a 2419 lead before Marshall scored a 21-yard touchdown pass, and converted a two-point conversion with 1:14 left in the game, leading to Texas State falling to the Thundering Herd 40-37 in double overtime.

Texas State struck first on their first possession of the game as Brad Jackson hit Chris Dawn Jr. for a 66-yard screen pass. Jackson later scored on a one-yard touchdown run to put the Bobcats up 70.

Marshall took advantage of a Bobcat fumble deep in Thundering Herd territory before scoring on a five-yard run by Antwan Roberts to tie the game at 7-7.

The Thundering Herd later took the lead early in the second quarter, kicking a 24-yard field goal to put Marshall up 10-7.

Later in the second quarter, the Herd looked to score with the ball on at the Texas State 19yard line. However, defensive back Craig Royal Jr. made the interception in the end zone to prevent a Marshall score.

The Bobcats took advantage of the turnover, driving down to the Marshall four-yard line before kicker Tyler Robles made a 23-yard field goal, tying the game at 10-10.

On the next possession, Marshall answered back with a 48-yard field goal to take back the lead 13-10.
