Chambers of Commerce Day!

Last week was Chamber of Commerce Week and Texas Governor Greg Abbott highlighted some of the work that chambers accomplish within the communities that we serve. Chambers have become the voice of business throughout the U.S. and in Texas and do work hard to keep Texas the economic engine that we have become within not only the US – but the world too. A fact that the State of Texas touts is that the Texas gross domestic product (GDP) is number eight in the world, and Texas is close to overtaking France as the number seven economy in the world if you missed this the first time!

In Seguin, the Chamber focuses on three specific areas: Enabling Economic Development, Enhancing Community Excellence and Amplifying Value to Our Members. The Enable Economic Development includes initiatives such as preparing for the growth where the Chamber hosts a Leadership Seguin and Seguin Area Youth Leadership Academy to assure that there are leaders prepared for our future. The category of Enhancing Community Excellence includes areas such as quality post educational opportunities for the community and fostering the growth of young professionals in our community. Amplifying Value for Our Members includes increasing Seguin businesses exposure to not only the community, but the region as well and also providing that Chamber Member to Chamber Member connection. The results are that the Chamber works hard to assure that we advocate for whatever our future may bring.

October is Manufacturing Month If you have not been following the Chamber social media pages – you have missed the highlights of the impact that manufacturers make within our community. If you missed it, here are some statistics that should help you understand the local impact. Guadalupe County manufacturers employ more that 9,900 employees and produce items such as rebar for roads throughout the state, engines to power large equipment, automotive components such as driver safety sensors and truck beds, feed for livestock and pets, plastic bags to store food, coiled metal plates, vegetation control equipment, plastic serving ware, manufactured housing, gears for vehicles, aircraft, and space equipment, airplane surfaces, and this is only the few that I can think of. The point is this, we are proud of our manufacturers and the employees that make these items locally. As mentioned earlier, the work that the manufacturing employees do is what keeps Texas that economic engine that keeps our economy strong!! Thank you, manufacturers and manufacturing employees, for all that you do in our community.
