The Texas State Film program is cranking out hits.
Five films created by faculty and students of the program will be shown at the Austin Film festival this weekend.
Austin Film Festival Executive Director Barbara Morgan said the festival’s mission is to provide a platform for emerging filmmakers, and she applauded the film program at Texas State.
“While many Texasbased programs focus on writing and directing, Texas State stands out for its hands-on approach to production — teaching students how to truly make films,” Morgan said. “Their strong showing at this year’s Festival is a testament to that focus and to the program’s growing influence in Texas’ filmmaking landscape.”
Sarah E.C. Maines, TXST School of Theater, Dance and Film Director, said the program continues to make its mark across both the Central Texas film industry and the national festival scene.
”This year marks a milestone of five films created by seventeen faculty and students selected for screening at the Austin Film Festival,” Maines said. “Renowned for its focus on screenwriting and recognized as one of the premiere film festivals in the world, the inclusion of this many Texas State films is a testament to the quality of the program and the caliber of the instruction offered by our talented faculty.”
