The Teacher Reuse group is hosting an open house for all retired public school and charter school teachers on Tuesday Oct. 28 from 9-11 a.m. at 1040 TX Hwy 123, in the backyard of building 3. This is an event for retired teachers to learn about the program and how they can still support today’s classrooms.
The event will include a tour of the buildings to see how supplies are organized and shared as well as a chance to explore the types of classroom materials available for teachers. Guests will learn more about Teacher Reuse’s goals to expand and serve even more Texas teachers.
The organization provides donated classroom resources to Central Texas public & charter teachers for free. They encourage recycling, reuse and community responsibility for the welfare of schools and the environment.
The group began as retired teachers remembering the amount of money they spent to supply their classrooms. Texas teachers spend on average of $750-$1000 yearly out-of-pocket on supplies.
Teachers can register to shop for free on their website at teacher-reuse.org.
