Heather Skeen will share insights about the unique challenges faced by both the deaf and autistic communities at the Oct. 29 meeting of the Rotary Club of San Marcos. Rotary meets at noon at the VFW Hall at 1701 Hunter Rd. Visitors are always welcome at Rotary meetings.
Skeen says she will provide strategies for improving accessibility in various settings and emphasize the crucial role of family support. She will also identify resources for further learning and community engagement and advocacy.
Skeen founded Providence Behavior Therapy in Buda in 2019. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior Analyst. She has been in the field of applied behavior analysis since 2009, serving clients ages 2 and up as well as parents, teachers, residential staff, and other caregivers. Skeen has provided behavior therapy and related services in clinics, homes, community settings, schools and daycares. She has a deaf child and has been learning and using American Sign Language (ASL) daily since 2015.
