KZSM — Power the Tower Party Tuesday at the Courthouse

Our KZSM Power the Tower celebration returns to the courthouse steps — bigger, better, and spookier than last month! Join us Tuesday, October 28, 6-9 p.m. on the lawn of the Hays County Courthouse, 111 East San Antonio Street, for a familyfriendly Halloween party with food, vendors, a raffle, and of course a costume contest, with cash prizes for the best men’s and women’s costumes.

You’ll enjoy live music throughout the evening from an eclectic line-up of local performers, including the amazing nine-year-old harmonica virtuoso Kali Rose KB, voted Best New Artist at the 2024 San Marcos Music Awards. The multi-talented DFOY performs his own unique blend of soulful, funky and rhythmic Freeform/ Freestyle music. You’ll also hear from DJ Thomas DaHitMan Jaramillo, host of “The Eternal Beat,” Fridays 10:30 to midnight on KZSM 104.1/KZSM.org and Grace the Empress, an up-and coming Alt-Grunge rock band. In addition, singer/songwriters Joe Congdon, Gage, and Amber Elison will entertain you during the evening.

Pop-up vendors from the San Marcos Flea Market and Zelicks San Martian Market will offer a uniquely San Martian shopping experience. Gumby’s pizza and other treats from local businesses will be available.

KZSM presents this free event as part of our campaign to fund our move to a new tower, which will allow us to broadcast at full power rather than our present low power. Federal Communications Commission regulations require KZSM to broadcast from at least 15 miles away from a station in Wimberley that unfortunately shares the same frequency. To broadcast at maximum power, we must move our radio transmitter and antenna from the roof of our studio at 216 North Guadalupe to a new tower. We have located a tower and are arranging the move right now. To produce that powerful new signal, we will need new equipment and rent for our space on the tower. So, we need you to help us Power the Tower!

A donation of $50 or more will get you a commemorative Power the Tower t-shirt, and bumper stickers are available for a $20 donation. KZSM is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) corporation supported entirely by the generosity of the community we serve. Join us at the courthouse for some Halloween fun, or visit our website to learn more about our Power the Tower campaign and donate to help us extend the many voices of KZSM into new territory.
