The Kyle Police Department has determined that no foul play was involved in the death of an unhoused person whose remains were discovered in Kyle in August. The family has requested the name of the deceased not be disclosed, according to a KPD spokesperson.
A landscaping crew reported finding what appeared to be a human skull in the 5800 block of Kyle Parkway on Friday Aug. 29.
A search of the area was conducted by KPD officers, detectives, forensic investigators and the department’s drone team, with assistance from Texas Search and Rescue (TXSAR).
Hays County Justice of the Peace Beth Smith, Precinct 2-1, responded to the scene and certified the death.
Additional remains were recovered and sent to the medical examiner, who ordered a forensic analysis. The analysis found no evidence of trauma or foul play. Further investigation confirmed the identity of an unhoused individual at the time of death.
