Since mid-August, LifeLong Learning-San Marcos has partnered with Texas State University to host a series of events focused on the ever-growing and lifechanging field of artificial intelligence.
Dr. Kimberly Conner, Texas State’s Strategic Digital Lead, has led sessions on protecting our personal data, identifying misinformation and scams, using AI tools for personal enrichment and the growing need for data centers to store, manage and process all the data required to make AI work.
The public is invited to join Dr. Conner and LifeLong Learning for the free final presentation of the AI series – “The Future of Artificial Intelligence and Us” – at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, at the San Marcos Activity Center.
Even if you don’t use AI tools like Open AI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini, you are using AI if you use a phone, tablet or computer to engage with the internet. And the future will bring even deeper integration of AI into our daily lives.
As Dr. Marianne Reese, Founder and Director of LifeLong Learning, noted when launching the AI Series, “We all need to know more about this powerful technology, understand AI’s positive and concerning applications, and learn the skills necessary to scrutinize the information it generates. AI will become increasingly prevalent, so we need to be informed consumers as AI impacts politics, medicine, business, finance and other areas of our lives.”
The American philosopher and social critic Eric Hoffer noted that in changing times, those who continue to learn are better equipped than those who rely on existing knowledge.
